1 Legal provisions regarding the GDPR.
We refer to the “General Data Protection Regulation” in force as of 25 May 2018. The official regulation can be found on the website of the European Union. This European Regulation is a legal act that directly applies to all Member States and is imposed on all legal entities (individuals, companies, public institutions).
The privacy policy that applies to DogID can also be found at the bottom of the main page of our website www.dogid.be

3 Which browser should I use to add my RRN online?

• Microsoft Windows Edge (version 20 or higher)
• Mozilla Firefox (version 30 or higher)

4 I am unable to install eaZyLink on my computer.
We recommend that you follow the instructions of the eaZyLink troubleshooting guide which can be found at: https://www.eazysign.be/en/help_eazylink.
5 Which type of card reader should I use to work with my identity card online?
The application should support almost every card reader sold in Belgium. If you want to verify this prior to purchase, please make sure that the card reader is labeled "CCID & PC/SC" compliant, of course it should be compatible with your (version of) Windows or Mac operating system. In exceptional cases it might be necessary to install the device driver separately (and therefore by yourself), this latter can normally be found on the manufacturer's web site.
On following web site you will find some examples of compatible readers for Mac and Windows systems: https://belgeid.be/en
6 Can I also use my tablet or smartphone to link my RRN to my dog (s)?
The reading out of an eID card on a smartphone or tablet requires a specific, dedicated card reader. The registration module isn’t adapted to cope with this kind of equipment and/or mobile operating systems.
7 I do not have an electronic identity card and a NRN. How can I link the dog and manage the data?
In order to link a dog to a national number, it must be registered within DogID and the person responsible must dispose of an electronic identity card with chip (eID).
Dogs accompanying their owner during a stay of less than six months in Belgium are not subject to the registration obligation with DogID.
When a foreigner is staying in Belgium for more than six months, he can obtain an electronic identity card for residence in Belgium.
To do this, one must contact the municipality of residence to check the procedures for applying for an eID card in order to take the necessary steps.
8 When attempting to link dog & owner, we receive the message “The name does not correspond sufficiently with the name of the current owner in the database”, which results in the impossibility of linking the dog to the national register number.
There are two possible reasons:
• During registration of the dog, it appears that the name and/or first name were not fully or correctly entered (eg: no first name, double family name, name of spouse, nickname or first name, misspelling…), as a result the personal data in the database are not sufficiently matching the data as read from the identity card.
Prior to linking, the personal data in the database must be adjusted or completed
o How to report the correction or adjustment?
- You are in possession of the card “Change of owner or change of address request – notification of death of the dog”
Complete the tearable card attached to the final certificate.
o Return the card to our services in an envelope by post.
o Keep in mind: a dog can only be registered and linked to one natural person only (so not on two names)
o Address: Dog ID - PO Box 20000 - 1600 Sint-Pieters-Leeuw
o After the data has been updated by our services, a new card will be issued to the indicated address of the owner.
o Once the details correspond to those on the identity card, the owner or the veterinarian can link the dog (s) to the national register number (if this was not filled-out on the card).
Attention: If you are the owner of different dogs, you will have to initiate this process for every dog.
- You are no longer in possession of the “Change of owner or change of address request – notification of death of the dog” card.
o Send an email with a request for reprint of this card to info@dogid.be. Do not forget to mention the chip number of your dog(s).
o The reception of your e-mail will be confirmed with a ticket number.
o We will process your request as soon as possible.
- Contact our services by phone through +32 (0) 2 333 92 22 during office hours 8 am-5 pm, make sure to have the chip number of the dog (at hand), after going through some verification questions we will process your request and if necessary refer to the procedure to follow.
• The dog is registered under the name of another natural person.
Linking your dog will not be possible as long as no change of owner has been administered.
The fastest solutions, in the event you are still able to contact the former owner, are:
o Either the former owner asks DogID to send him the “Change of owner or change of address request – notification of death of the dog” card. The former owner will be asked to return this card to DogID with your contact details added to the back of the card.
DogID will then immediately implement the change upon reception.
o Either send a joint statement to DogID, signed by both the former and new owner, stating the change of ownership.
DogID will then immediately implement the change upon reception.
If this is not possible and you no longer own this card, you should send a simple written request to DogID by post or @mail. DogID will then contact the former owner to agree to implement the change (this procedure may take +/- 3 weeks).
9 When linking, we receive the message “A national register number has already been associated with the dog”.
It is possible that the dog is already linked to your national register number.
Check whether the dog details match your details via https://online.dogid.be/. If your national register number is “known” this means your dog is already linked to your national register number, by consequence you do not need to do anything at the moment.
If your dog is already linked to your national register number, the button “More actions” at the top left will not be available.
